Combat
Combat in the game will be a means of getting something a player need, but at the cost of knowing that there is another way to get what they need, and at the cost of knowing it is not socially acceptable in the game.
I also think that there is a huge difference in murder, and killing. On site of the bible we can see that Joshua and his garrison killed, where Barnabas was a murderer. This needs to be explored more. I do also keep in mind that this is a game to help people grow. One way of growth is trial and error. If you don't experience life, then you do not have life experience. Observing life events trough a video game can help teach us with out actually having to experience such things in life. Thus if some one learns about killing and all the feeling that come with it though a game, then could they not take that experience from the game and apply it to life? If the lesson taught in game is killing is bad and causes regret and hurt, then the life lesson is learned with out having to kill in real life.
With all of this said I have come to the conclusion that combat is needed in the game, but should never be more rewarding then punishing.
Any player can attack any other player or non player character. The reward for such a kill will be in the form of Items that the other player or non player character has in there inventory.
There will be no guns. The technology will be that same as in the world of the time Jesus walked the earth.
The punishment for death will be in the form of a side quest where the player suffers from nightmares, faces the feelings of killing some one, and tries to earn his forgiveness from the Nameless One. Just to find out that his forgiveness of all his sins has little to do with the good acts he does, but on weather or not he listens to the Nameless One.
